Additional Details

Like many artists, Larry Fanning began in illustration, working for Boeing Aircraft where, as he says, his “art talent was used to try to sell bombers to the Air Force.” Fanning also worked for Hallmark and Mattel but then, after some spiritual soul searching, he gathered a portfolio and sought to make a life at the easel, painting Western and wildlife subjects. He has made quite a success of it, developing a super-realistic style that emphasizes the drama in the moment he chooses to depict. This lot is illustrated in The Story of Leanin’ Tree on page 389. A copy of the book will accompany this lot
