Additional Details

Hans Kleiber was born in Germany, but by 1906 he was in Wyoming, working for the Forest Service. Kleiber began to paint and, working in his log cabin outside Sheridan, he developed an interest in the ancient art of etching. Kleiber befriended and influenced many artists, including Sharp and Gollings, and his mastery of line in his truly fine etchings of the American West testifies to his perception and talent. This lot is illustrated in The Story of Leanin' Tree on page 350. A copy of the Leanin’ Tree greeting card that features this art work will accompany this lot.
