Additional Details

It is in the rolling dairy farms and the deep northwoods of Gerald Balciar’s childhood in rural Wisconsin that one finds the source of his fascination with animals and interest in their portrayal in three dimensions. His bronzes capture his subjects in powerful and intimate moments, moments of instinct and deep connection with the land. Balciar is a member of the National Sculpture Society, Allied Artists of America, the Society of Animal Artists. This lot is illustrated in The Story of Leanin’ Tree on page 450. A copy of the book will accompany this lot
