Additional Details

Prediction: Centuries from now, George Carlson will be one of the artists of our era whose work is remembered and revered. Considering the high esteem in which his work is held today, this prediction is more of a safe bet. Whether he is sculpting figures or animals, whether they tend toward realism, or lean into abstraction, Carlson’s visions of the world find spatial expression in forms that seem to combine motion and stillness, time and timelessness. This lot is illustrated in The Story of Leanin’ Tree on page 462. A copy of the book will accompany this lot
