Additional Details

Donald “Putt” Putman studied art in Los Angeles and seemed on his way to a career in the arts when the circus called. Putt was a Ringling Brothers strongman catcher and acrobat by day who painted after the big top went dark. He married, painted scenery for MGM, taught, and began to paint the West. This lot is illustrated in The Story of Leanin' Tree on page 351. A copy of the Leanin’ Tree greeting card that features this art work will accompany this lot.
