Additional DetailsBill Freeman came from an artistic family, but his path led him to the Forest Service, where he fought fires and did field research. But when his sketches began to appear in the publications of the Arizona Fish and Game Department, he circled back to art and took the wildlife and landscape of the West as his inspiration and subject. This lot is illustrated in The Story of Leanin' Tree on page 241.
