Additional DetailsWhen Alfredo Rodriguez was 20, a Texas promoter met the young artist and brought him to the United States from his native Mexico. Though Rodriguez came from a poor family, he lived near a famous painter, Santiago Rosas, who gave the young man his first lessons in art. Rodriguez’s paintings of mountain men and Native Americans and other Western figures are highly realistic but very soulful. This lot is illustrated in The Story of Leanin' Tree on page 148.
